ALMOST REALITY
Personal exhibition by Rustam Mirzoev, the most mystical artist of the TSEKH gallery, is about the conflict between two realities, the aesthetical (true) and the virtual (false) one.
Exploring the “parallel reality”, that is, memories, dreams, psychedelic states etc, Rustam Mirzoev suggests that “we have lost the reality - the reality of the things indescribable, mystical, dangerous and, simultaneously, beautiful. It was steadily extruded, replaced by the contemporary one - virtual. Which is also dangerous and beautiful - but fictional”.
Working for the whole project in his traditional technique of acrylic and charcoal on canvas, the author created eleven artworks especially for the Lithuanian connoisseurs. In fact, project’s conception reminds making (transmutation) of gold or the so-called philosopher’s stone by the medieval alchemists; in their mystical, however true Reality they recognized a few key elements - Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. Eventually, every single entity, taken separately, was created from these initial elements. As for the very birth of the precious metal - it was described in terms of marriage between Male and Female that sometimes tend to be in odds.
Undoubtedly, an artist’s alchemy - is his true Reality.
